Money?
I came home from work one day and I saw Ivan standing on the sofa nearest to the windows. He was mumbling something to me but I couldn't hear him clearly. From his gleeful look, I can tell that he's asking about something; or probably some happy news to share?
He pushed open the windows and asked me this : "Mummy has money? "
And me ... "???"
"Has money?" He repeated showing off his set of white cute teeth.
"Mummy has money and can buy Ivan cars? Many many cars? "
Now, where on earth did that little cheeky boy learn that from, I wonder. Just then I remembered something we said to him before ... or always. Each time when we need to leave for work, we'll say, "Ivan, mummy & daddy need to work. Otherwise, we won't have money to buy you food, buy you clothes, buy you toys ... Do you want them? If yes, then that's why we need to work"
So, that's how ... We are the culprits, we are the one who gave him that idea. We ... goodness us. But how else can you explain to a 3 years' old about the need to work? Because we like leaving him in school? Or because we need to contribute to the country's economic growth? Or perhaps, simply because we love to work? :) *whatever*
"No money, sayang. I don't have money ... and can't buy you cars. You will need to learn to sayang your toys first before I decide to buy you another one." *lalalalalaaaallllalalala*
