LLlallalallalalalaa ...
You have probably read that one of the essential thing to do as a parent is to sing. Sing to your child often, sing it slowly and top it up with actions to make it more interesting.
Hhehhe ... Ivan's my captive audience since baby. I often sing off key and am not blessed with 'singer's voice', but well, he didn't close his ears, no? I sing children's songs, nursery rhymes and alot more of my own make-up songs and Ivan enjoys them (he smiles and clap and sing along with me ... need more proof?). Now that he's attending school, he learn to sing more songs and some of which I'm not familiar with. Often when he's back from school, he will sing me a few words and want me to sing with him. For those unfamiliar songs, I had to say, "Gee, mummy don't know how to sing this song Ivan."
But I will google to find the full lyrics (and the tune, hopefully). It's not an easy task searching for the songs he's singing cause he's only giving me bits and pieces of the lyrics and sometimes, incorrect bits and pieces. But with lots of googling and luck, I managed to find them from here and even bumped into them from other bloggers like here.
Yesterday, I found a new song's lyrics .... but without the tune. Hmmmm, based on the bits and pieces tune Ivan always sing and with a dash of my own creativity, I showed off to Ivan. So, there I was ... in the living room, singing to him the Tommy Thumb song and his reaction? He stared at me, stunned perhaps, and said, "Mummy don't know how to sing".
"uuhh uhh"
Did you hear glass breaking? *Blimk blank plang prang*
... the sound of my heart breaking. Sungguh memalukan ...
But that was yesterday. Today, we sang duet to our own make up song. We sang to the mee and rice song.
Mee and rice,
Mee and rice,
Ivan loves to eat mee and rice ...
:P silly but sweet like hell.
