Time flies really fast and this is the 3rd year Jef and I distribute any pows (red packets). The 1st year was fun as we had to distribute 2 ang pows (customary to signify 1st year thingy. Actually, I don't know exactly why but since we were told to do that ... well, we just join in the fun! ). We handle it like a pro during the 2nd year (we never mixed up the ang pows !) and this year, we were trying to recall the amount given to some people during the 1st and 2nd year ... hahhaha.
Besides the ang pows, each passing year reminds me of what I have gone through during the past year. Good or bad. Mistakes, regrets, happy moments, sorrows, ... well, the only thing which is most outstanding in my memory is somehow, times with Ivan. Happy times with my son. He's growing up fast and soon he will be smarter than me, taller than me. As a 2 and a half years old boy, he's talkative, cheeky and mischievous. When he lose in a game with you, he sulks, "I don't like you... ". When he is in good mood, he sings, "Shall we .. shall we... shall we ... ". When he needs to pee, he says "I wanna poo ... !" When he's cheeky, he says, "I love you mummy ... "
For the past few years and the many years ahead, I thank God for Ivan. Thank Him for giving me the chance to be Ivan's mom and I thank Him for being able to understand how tough it is to be a parent and to appreciate my very own. :)
So, people ... enjoy your reunion dinner and have a great year ahead. Here's from Ivan : "Kong Hei Kong Hei ... Kong Hei Fatt Choy ! Hong Pau lor lei ........ Tho che sai !!" (translated as Happy New Year... hand me the red packet and thanks !)
