According to the experts, parents are advised to motivate their children by being generous .. with praises.
We do praise Ivan alot. We praise him when he finishes his bowl of rice. We praise him when he finishes his bottle of water. We praise him when he helps to throw rubbish in the bin and leave the dirty clothes in the laundry basket. We praise him when he helps to keep his toys. We praise him when he recites his abc and count his 123.
We praise him a great deal.
I was drinking my cup of water and gulp down everything.
[Ivan] : Smart boy !
[me] : nhuh? Who's smart boy? (sometimes, Ivan likes to praise himself too .. and I was wondering why is he praising himself this time)
[Ivan] : Mummy .... Smart boy !
He praised me for finishing my cup of water. :) Oh I'm so motivated ! Makes me feel like having another cup.

Really, it's great seeing parents praise their kids for the things they do right (I tak boleh tahan parents who cheer their kids on when they create a din in restaurants, etc, as if they did something so wonderful). Giving kids encouragement :)
