shian called me early this morning ... to share her motherhood experiences. and, i thought ... yah ... why not share it here. So, here's some of it. But, as my son's only 19 months, I only have tips for babies and toddlers. Bear in mind too that not all babies are alike and the tips here may not apply to all :
1. Poo-poo time !
- Make it a habit for your baby to poo-poo after meal, during day time. This is to save you from unnecessary surprises and from wasting diapers.
- How to : if your baby is still very 'fragile', let him/her poo-poo in a lying down position. Place some unwanted papers (make it thick ! and if you have been wondering what to do with your Astro monthly guides ... ) at the bottom of baby's waist. Next, bend baby's both legs outwards as though baby is squating. And, start to make encouraging sounds like 'ekk-ekkkkkkk'.
2. Baby bottles
- Sterilising baby bottles can be easily done with a proper steriliser or alternatively, you can also boil the bottles for atleast 5 minutes, under low fire.
- Avent bottles are great ... but if your baby is just a couple of months old, probably you will find that other teats are softer compared to Avent. Ivan started to use Avent when he was 3 months and above. It's too hard for him when he was just a few months old.
3. Bathing your baby
- Wrap your baby up in towel, still in diaper.
- Carry your baby to the bath tub and with baby in one arm, close to you, gently wash baby's hair.
- When done, dry up baby's hair and bring baby back to bed.
- Unwrap baby and take off diaper. Lay the towel open in horizontal position on the bed
- Carry baby back to bath tub
- Place baby in the bath tub gently and always remember to place baby close to you
- Clean baby with a cloth
- When done, carry baby up to the bed
- Place baby on the lay out towel and dry baby
