I realised that I am not teaching my son alot of things compared to other mothers out there.
Expecting mothers are listening to Mozarts, Beethoven and some other music that will stimulate brain cell growth for babies. And me? When I was expecting, I was listening to Blink 182, Maroon 5, Moby, Red Hot Chilly Pepper, Madonna, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aquilera, etc ...
When baby is a month old, they are probably meddling with smart toys from Fisher Price, Lamaze, etc .. When Ivan was a month old, he was toying with his rattler and sometimes knock himself on the head. :D oh yah .. he was also toying with his mittens and booties ... ! Where are my fingers and toes??
At the age of one, other mothers are already feeding the 100th tin of milk-powder-that-make-geniuses and Ivan is still refusing to drink milk. Well, I did try to breast feed ... but, put it this way, when there's no demand, there's no supply. so, i was a dry well. so what.
And at 19 months, other toddlers can probably recite their ABCs. And, Ivan is still with his limited words such as caaaaaarr, cat !, woof woof, siiit, poon (spoon), bo (bowl), daddy, mama, memy... but he can already show me where's his nose, eyes, ears, stomach, mouth, buttock, hands, legs !
I realised all this and I decide to let him learn things at his own pace. I shall guide him and not pressure him. I shall not stop him from watching his favourite Finding Nemo just because I want him to concentrate on the book I was reading to him. As long as he's happy and growing well ...
