Hair Cut Tale

Ivan had his first haircut when he was 1 month old. Instead of the normal shave-it-bald type, his hair was trimmed short enough for him to still-look-good-but-not-messy type. It was a job which requires a lot of patience and a pair of steady hands. And it is a job for daddykins. So, ever since then, daddy became Ivan's personal hairdresser till he is about 18 months.

It's not an easy task, really. My job is to distract him. Usually I will distract with toys (and new toys each 5 minutes), games (such as water spraying game), food (this is really messy and least favoured. He might have hair in his mouth while trying to lick on the chuppa-chup). It's not easy for daddy too. Jef will need to be steady and fast. There were a couple of times when he did it too fast and snipped off some portion too short. *gulp* And after the haircut, we will need to clean up the place and bath him. Not easy, not easy. We did send him to a barber before but Ivan didn't like the way his new hairdresser held down his head and shave shave shave. He preferred daddy and the clown mummy.

Recently, we brought my mum, my MIL and my nephew for haircut in a saloon nearby. It's an all sexy girls saloon. This simply means that you will get to see girls working there in skimpy clothings trotting up and down, scrubbing someone's scalp off with their long painted fingernails, colouring someone's hair and do whatever a normal saloon will do. Ok, I exaggerated. They do wear short miniskirts but not all of them. And they look kinda decent and not the you-know-what-I-mean type.

Back to Ivan's encounter.

Probably he saw his grandmas and cousin getting their haircut there and it seems like an adult thing to do, he agreed to have his hair trimmed as well. I still need to distract him and I did with mini M&M's. Sat on daddy's lap, he looked at himself in the mirror while pretty che che (che che : sister in mandarin) snipped away. Eversince then, that place officially became Ivan's authorised hairdresser. Well, Daddy still need to be his cushion but mummy retired from doing monkey-show. *pheewww*

And guess what? Yesterday, for the first time, Ivan had his hair cut with him sitted on the chair, by himself. :) aaaahhhhh ... we are already enjoying parenthood. Soon, he will be visiting hair saloon himself and send daddy the bill of RM300 for haircut and hair highlights job.

He maintained his seriousness till we head home. Pretty che che managed to calm him down, huh?
