Liar Liar, Pants on Fire !

Bringing up a child at certain point requires some white lies, told to get things done, to get little favours from him and most importantly, these lies are told for his own good.

O Well, not that we can't tell the truth but simply because he might not understand it but also at certain time, he 'prefers' to hear the lies instead of the truth. It's just a case of telling him what he wants to hear. And it's a case of a guilty mom. Sheesh .. He definitely has the utmost right to know what we fibbed about when he was 4.

Fib # 1 :

Ivan hates to cut fingernails. When he started crawling till age of 3, we had to perform our clipping actions while he's asleep. Otherwise, I really wouldn't know how to trim for him with him struggling hard for his dear ... fingers.

So, the white lie.

Told him that he would need to clip it short and neat, else, nails will collect dirt and dirt will form into worms. Worms will then eat into his flesh and into his body. Once the worm gets into his body ... oh squirmy little worm ...

Fib # 2 :

Ivan dreads to shower too. When it's time to shower, he will come up with 101 excuses and if all else fails, he ends up crying.

And the white lie.

If you don't shower, you will collapse. The stench on your body will be so strong till an unbearable stage and then ... you collapse. Just like that.

From the tv, he has seen a girl collapsed on the ground and I lied through my teeth, 'There, she has not been showering for so many days and she finally collapse."

Fib # 3 :

Mummy, if I finish this up, I can be Ben 10?

He was referring to some food he doesn't favour such as tofu / eggs / tofu / eggs

Yeap .. !

Fib # 4 :

Nah ... can't think of anymore fibs so, 3 for the time being. So, bet it wasn't that bad afterall ... ! Just 3 ! :)

I read him Pinocchio story a couple of times before and knowing that one shouldn't lie, he would say, "Bluff .. your nose is going to be longer" whenever he catches me lying. Then again, it's just some white lies. Some harmless lies. Uughhh ... but why am I feeling bad .. ??
