Valentine's Day
Vday is just around the corner and I have already planned out what to surprise my sayang this year. Me shall paint him a gift of love. Yeah baby ... paint. Oil painting on a piece of board. It was a well thought out plan (yah, I thought) until the plan backfired.
Last Friday, he was supposed to be back to work after the long Chinese New Year break (with me still enjoying my holidays) and I was busy painting at home when suddenly his car appeared inside the porch at around 1600 hrs. (huh? back so early?) Well-O-well .. I acted casual about the painting. Afterall, he knew I got the paints and I'm painting something. He just doesn't know that I'm actually painting it for him.
He got into the house and said, 'Uuuhh ... painting in the house? Wouldn't you dirty up the place?'
[me] : Nah .. hardly. I have the base covered with flattened box
[him] : Oohh .. Hmm ... and what do you intend to do with it?
(Now, if you know how to read between the lines, it's actually translated as, 'What are you going to do with that ugly piece of thing?? Don't tell me you are going to hang it up !')
And, because I do know how to read between the lines, I understood his concern perfectly well. Wow ! Here I am painting for him and he's already hinting to me that it's not to be anywhere near the walls ! Ooouucccchhhh ! ... I continued painting nevertheless and when I'm done, I disclose to him, 'Hey ... actually, this painting was supposed to be your Vday's surprise. But now ... hmm .. since you don't like it that much, it's ok then'.
Ah-ha .. just then he knew nothing he does or say at that point of time can mend the broken heart of mine. But well, hmm ... looking back at my finished painting ... I hate but to agree with him. I'm seriously not a painter. Not even close to be talented or gifted. :P
I contemplated whether I should share with you on how the painting looks like but will you laugh at me? I concluded that I should as it will replace the imaginary picture you have on your mind (could be uglier than my painting ... much much more I reckon). So, I shall let you be the judge. But not today. Tomorrow. Just to keep you in suspense. *grin*
